digital publishing award supports sustainability projects

The restructuring of the economy to become more sustainable is making progress – 84 percent of those responsible for sustainability in companies in the real economy say, according to a study, that the topic has become more important to them. However, there is often a lack of concrete action and implementation of sustainability initiatives, and this also applies to the media industry.

In order to contribute to the transformation of the media industry towards more sustainability, the digital publishing award decided to include a new award category on the topic of sustainability. The award honors digital initiatives by publishers and other companies in the media industry that contribute to different sustainability goals and use digital means to achieve them. Submissions in this category will be evaluated by a separate jury.

With the new award category, the DIGITAL PUBLISHING REPORT, which presents the digital publishing award, is also expanding its commitment in this area. Last year, the dpr and the IGEPA Academy jointly organized the digital conference “Let's go green”, which showcased innovative “green” ideas for publishing and production.

The new award is intended to recognize not only the projects of large publishing houses and media companies, but also the initiatives of small and medium-sized companies, which can be quickly imitated by other companies if necessary.
